Sleep Disorders In Australia

Sleep disorders in Australia affect roughly 1 in 3 adults.  Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is the most common set of conditions which fall within the over-arching 'sleep disorders' term.

Sleep disorders such as sleep disordered breathing are routinely harmful conditions, although their high level of prevalence has lead to a tendency to think of sleep disorders as normal.  The fact is, sleep disorders might be common, but they are certainly not normal and certainly not healthy.

Sleep disordered breathing conditions are particularly serious.  This umbrella terms covers everything from snoring, through to severe obstructive sleep apnoea.  In all cases, the sufferer is experiencing an impaired airflow which frequently leads to increased muscular effort required to breathe and lower blood oxygen levels while asleep and after waking.
