Sleep Studies In Your Home

Sleep studies can now be performed in the comfort and privacy of your own home, throughout Queensland.

Sleep studies (otherwise knowns as diagnostic sleep studies or poloysomnograms) are primarily used to determine the nature and severity of a sleep disordered breathing condition, such as snoring or sleep apnoea (where the patient stops breathing while asleep).  In the past, these sleep studies needed to be performed in a hospital-based sleep clinic environment -- but many patients found the cost, inconvenience and discomfort of sleeping in a strange environment to be a serious disincentive.

Now there is no reason to avoid having a sleep study.  If you suspect you might have a sleep disordered breathing condition (common symptoms are waking tiredness, daytime sleepiness, high blood pressure, slow metabolism / obesity, acid reflux, waking during the night, type 2 diabetes, loss of libido / impotence and other conditions) it is now easy, convenient and inexpensive to arrange a sleep study in your own bed and home.

One of our nurses will visit your home at a convient time to fit the diagnostic equipment.  You then simply go to bed at the normal time, after having a normal evening (including consuming your normal amount of alcohol and other food and medications).  The next morning the diagnostic equipment will be collected and the recorded data will be analysed by a specialist independent sleep physician.  They will diagnose the nature and severity of your condition and prescribe and appropriate form of treatment.

We will then refer you to the relevent treatment provider, or offer to provide CPAP treatment by our own expert sleep therapists if that form of treatment is prescribed.  Once again, this treatment can be provided in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
