You do not need to be asleep all night, but the recorder must be operating for at least 8 hours according to Medicare.
As a guideline, please commence recording between 6-8PM. On the following morning, DO NOT TURN OFF or PRESS ANYTHING ON THE DEVICE.
For a perfect sleep study…
You do NOT need to put the equipment on until you are ready to go to bed.
Leave the device turned on once you've commenced recording. The device cannot capture any data until you are wearing all the leads and you are asleep. The batteries have a 24-hour life on them. The Morning Questionnaire must also be completed in full when you wake up.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Medicare requires the diagnostic recorder to record all sleep and wake periods for at least 8 hours.
Ao as a guideline, please commence recording between 6-8PM (you DO NOT need to be wearing the equipment at this time. No data will be recorded until you are wearing it and actually asleep). On the following morning, please DO NOT TURN THE UNIT OFF nor PRESS ANYTHING.
Other people are waiting on this equipment so they can do their sleep study. To avoid late fees, please do your sleep study on the night it is booked and return the equipment the next day, using the Express satchel we've provided.

NB: Ensure the white belts are not twisted, too tight, or too loose. Adjust the length by carefully pulling the white band through the plastic mount at each end.

Rub your skin thoroughly with the Electrode Prep Pad at the 5 electrode placement sites and allow the skin to dry:
- Right shoulder
- Left shoulder
- Right temple
- Left forehead
- Middle of the forehead
Step D. Place the EEG sensors (GREY leads)
- Get the GREY leads marked as ‘right temple’ and ‘left forehead’
- Attach the ‘right temple’, lead near the corner of your right eye,
- Attach the ‘left forehead’ lead on the left side of the forehead, above the eye, and as close to your hairline.
- Plug the end of the lead into the ‘HEAD’ socket

- Place the ‘LONGER ORANGE LEAD’ on the left side of your chest underneath your collarbone, in line with your left ear.
- Place the ‘SHORTER ORANGE LEAD’ on the right side of your chest underneath your collarbone, also in line with your right ear.
- Plug the end of the lead into the ‘SHOULDERS’ socket.
Step G. Apply nasal cannula (clear plastic tubing)
- Position the nasal cannula so the prongs point up and into the nostrils (not pointing forward).
- Adjust the chin slide adjuster such that the tubes are snug but comfortable.
- Secure the tubes in place with a small strip of the supplied tape on each cheek.
- Plug the end of the nasal cannula into the 'NOSE' socket.
Step H. Attach the wristband oximeter

- Use the wristband to secure the oximeter comfortably around the wrist.
- Put the rubber boot sensor probe on the index, middle, or ring finger (whichever fits best)on either the left or right hand. Find the small fingernail symbol on the end of the rubber boot. Ensure this symbol sits on top of your own fingernail.
- The white cord should be on top of your hand.
- Please tape the white cord to the base of your finger and the back of your hand. This will help keep it in place throughout the night.
